ST MARY'S Primary School in Stansted Mountfitchet is hoping to relocate to a new site at Foresthall Park.
The school, which is currently on St John's Road, is hoping to move to a new facility which would be built on the former Rochford Nurseries site.
The move would allow the school to increase its capacity from about 180 pupils to 300. A public consultation is expected to be held this month.
Headteacher Christine Tonkins said: "The main reason for wanting to move is that our current school building is wearing out. There is also a demand for more primary school places in Stansted Mountfitchet.
