Generous primary school children organised a week of fundraising to help generate funds for people affected by the recent earthquakes in Nepal.

Children from Debden C of E Primary School, in High Street – which has links to communities in Nepal through RAF Debden – has raised £920 raffling off a luxury hamper containing items donated by school staff, a cake sale, and a non-uniform day.

The pupils also organised an inter-class raffle, including a Debden School Teddy Bear complete with its own school bag full of writing and drawing equipment as star prize.

Headteacher Julie Gibbons said: “The support we received from staff, children and their families was amazing.

“Due to close links with the Nepalese community, and our school community at Carver Barracks, we have been extremely keen to help raise money for this very worthy cause.”
