UTTLESFORD District Council is advising residents and businesses that an advertising campaign by a company called Binwash UK Limited is not endorsed by the council.
The company has been attaching tags to wheelie bins without the council's agreement and has also been distributing leaflets, including via at least one local paper, across the district.
A council spokesman said: "There is no requirement for residents or businesses to commission bin cleaning services and the council does not endorse this commercial operation.
