More than 100 staff and volunteers attended The New Year Honours Awards, organised by leading charity Pheonix Futures.

Two winners on the night were from Futures in Mind, a service for people across Essex who are looking for support with mental health.

The service is a partnership between Phoenix Futures, Mind in West Essex and Mid and North East Essex Mind.

Lead volunteer Jim Sykes won the Partnership Award for his work with Essex Wildlife Trust, and Astra Rice-Line, an administrator for Futures in Mind, won the Unsung Hero Award.

Jane Slocombe, service manager for Futures in Mind said: “We are massively proud. Our achievements are down to the dedication and hard work of all the team and volunteers.”

Futures in Mind offers activities, mentoring and befriending services.
