TEAM GB hockey star and Uttlesford Olympian Chloe Rogers has been whipped up into a London 2012 frenzy after tweeting about her “crazy” start to the Games.

The former Helena Romanes School student said she was “very honoured to be part of Team GB” on an emotional and historic night at the Olympic Stadium last Friday.

Danny Boyle’s opening ceremony extravaganza came in for much critical acclaim across the globe – and it certainly had Chloe raring to go after she tweeted a picture of herself in front of the iconic Olympic flame.

On the pitch Great Britain’s women’s hockey team later got off to the perfect start with a 4-0 win over Japan in pool A, before Chloe was thrust into the national limelight after scoring the winning goal in a 5-3 thriller against South Korea on Tuesday.

Chloe told the Reporter she was enjoying life in the Olympic village so far, where she is sharing a house with eight of her hockey teammates, and was being spurred on by the success of British athletes elsewhere.

“It’s fun to be part of the a wider Team GB and to see the medals rolling in from other sports,” she said.

“It’s pleasing to get off to a great start with three wins and maximum points but there’s still a long way to go yet and we’re just taking each game as it comes. I was pleased to get on the score sheet [against Korea] as I didn’t in Beijing.

“Hopefully I can add to that in future games too.”

Team GB continued their march towards Olympics glory with a 3-0 victory over Belgium last night.

Chloe set up the first goal on a comfortable evening for the home side, which saw them go joint top of the group alongside the Netherlands.

The 27-year-old and her fellow British hopefuls will look to continue their quest for Olympic gold in the next game against China on Saturday at 4pm.

Their final match is against the Netherlands on Monday, 7pm.
