THE family of a Saffron Walden teenager who died while on holiday in Crete have paid tribute to him.

The body of 17-year-old Andre Young was found discovered on Wednesday morning in Malia.

His family released the following statement: "Andre was a much loved son, brother, half brother, grandson, newphew and cousin. He will be dearly missed by all his family and life will never be the same without him.

"The huge amount of love and support shown by his many, many friends has been wonderful and it has been heart-warming to know that he was so well loved by friends at school, the skate park and Saffron Walden in general.

"Andre was always friendly and polite, with a wicked sense of humour, thoroughly enjoying life as a typical fun loving 17-year-old. He was incredibly bright with a real interest in history and the military.

"He hoped to go to university next year and then have career which involved changing the world in a positive way for the young people of the future.

"Andre had been looking forward to his holiday in Crete after working hard in school over the last year and had raised the money himself from a part time cleaning job at the school."

Andre's mum and dad will remain in Crete at this time.
