FIRE crews are investigating the source of a blaze which started in a Church Street flat on Monday evening (Aug 29).
Saffron Walden crews were called around 8.20pm to the fire after an automatic smoke alarm was triggered. Firefighters entered the smoke-filled property only to find the fire was extinguished.
They checked the flat to make sure it was safe and ventilated the building using a high pressure fan before leaving the property at 8.40pm.
There were no casualties.
