FIRE: Essex fire crews tackle house blaze

AN investigation is under way after a fire tore through the roof of a home currently under restoration late last night, July 12.

Firefighters were called to the property on Anso Road in Hempstead, Saffron Walden, at 3.45am. Two crews from Saffron Walden and another from Thaxted attended the blaze.

After tackling the fire for over 20 minutes crews reported that 25 per cent of the roof was well alight and that efforts were being made to strip the roof away to gain better access to the fire. The incident was dealt with by 05:09 hrs.

Essex County Fire and Rescue Service are undertaking an investigation to find the source of the blaze.
