A tractor caught alight near Saffron Walden this morning (Tuesday).
Two fire crews from Saffron Walden were sent to Little Pen, Littlebury Green, at 10.48am after a tractor was engulfed in flames on the road outside A Duke and Son.
The tractor was well alight when the firefighters arrived and the fire was put out by 11.41am.
Station officer Paul Curtis said: “The agricultural vehicle and hedge cutter were totally destroyed by the fire this morning.
“The tractor caught fire due to an electrical fault and stopped on a hill, this resulted in a running fuel fire of over 100m in length.
“Crews used three foam hose reel jets to extinguish it. The roadway was damage by the heat and highways engineers were called to assess the damage.”
