FIREFIGHTERS dug for more than five hours to release a dog which had become trapped seven metres into a 20m drainage pipe.
Crews from Newport and Stansted were called to Hill Green, Clavering, at 6.55pm yesterday (Sunday October 18).
They dug through earth until they were able to reach and then release the trapped Jack Russell terrier. The dog was freed by 11.40pm.
