Rescue teams were scrambled to Stansted Airport this afternoon (January 3) after a plane reported it was experiencing difficulties.

Stansted Airport Control contacted Essex County Fire and Rescue Service after an aircraft, believed to be a Gulfstream V, was experiencing difficulties.

Four crews including Stansted’s off-road vehicle and Dunmow’s Pinzgauer-off road vehicle were called to one of Stansted Airport’s runways ahead of the aircraft’s estimated time of arrival at 4pm.

At 4.02pm, firefighters received a call confirming the aircraft had landed safely at Northolt Airport, in Middlesex.
