Businesses are being invited to take part in the inaugural exposition in Saffron Walden.

The town hall will be filled with a variety of firms for the first Business Expo on Friday and Saturday, February 12-13.

The event is being organised by the Saffron Walden BNI networking group which is looking to give businesses in and around Saffron Walden a boost by providing a meeting ground for companies to make new and bolster existing links.

So far around 25 businesses have signed up for the Expo, which is being sponsored by the Saffron Walden Reporter. The event is also being supported by Uttlesford District Council.

Alan Caldwell, chairman of the BNI group, told the Reporter: “When I became chairman in October I wanted to increase the profile of the BNI, but also organise an event that would benefit the whole of the town by promoting small and independent businesses.

“I want all businesses to take something out of the event, be that from business to business or from members of the public visiting.”

There will also be sessions on social media, marketing and other topics, which will be revealed in greater detailed closer to the date.

As well as the businesses, there will be a food court, being provided by Gog Magog Farm Shop, to entice people into the event.

Mr Caldwell, partner at FM and C Solicitors, added: “We wanted the Expo to be a bit different from other business events and encourage more people off the street to learn more about companies in the town.

“The event is also going to attract businesses and people from further away and encourage people to visit and they get to discover what Saffron Walden has to offer.”

Stefan Bartlett, Editor of the Reporter, said: “The paper is delighted to become media sponsor for what promises to be a special event for the town.

“Businesses in and around Saffron Walden play a crucial role in the town and it is vital that they can be supported.

“We are also working hard to develop a way to further recognise the achievements of our town’s businesses.”
