Sixteen teams battled it out on the golf course in the first official Saffron Walden Carnival 2014 event.

The Carnival Golf Day took place on Friday, June 6 in glorious sunshine as the local teams competed for the ‘ 582 Cup’.

The teams took to the fairway after a fantastic display by Geoff Swain, the world trick shot champion, and despite the intense heat each team battled for the honour of being crowned carnival champions.

The final scoring was close with team La Rochelle retaining the trophy they won in 2011. Prizes were awarded to the top three teams and the top three individuals.

Event organiser Malcolm Head said: “I would like to thank the main sponsors Tees Law for their continued support, Vindis (Sawston) Ltd for providing the car for the ‘hole in one’ competition – which sadly no-one won – all the other associate sponsors, Saffron Walden Golf Club and lastly all teams and helpers for making it a successful day.”
