A FOREST fun day which included making dens, a leafy walk and learning about hedgehogs proved a hit with a Saffron Walden nursery.
Children at Friends' Junior School Nursery could not wait to leaf the classroom and get to Hatfield Forest last week.
The educational, hands-on experience was to help the youngsters with their current topics of light and dark, autumn and nocturnal animals.
Nursery co-ordinator, Tiffany Johnson, said: "We all had a lovely time and got very muddy!
"Since being back at nursery the children have been inspired to create their own forest environments. They have been making dens in our Early Year's garden for nocturnal animals and creating a cave role-play area inside with torches, nocturnal animal masks, paintings and autumn leaves.
