At Joyce Frankland Academy, there were record highs in English with 86 per cent of students achieving top grades and 25 per cent getting an A or A* in maths.

Overall, 66 per cent achieved five A*-C grades including English and maths. Of the year group, 46 per cent passed triple science with most achieving A* or A.

Some 21 per cent of students achieved top passes in 12 or more subjects and 38 per cent in 10 or more.

Among the top performers were the school prefects. Georgia Mitchell achieved 11 A* grades and two As, a keen musician who plays violin and piano, Georgia plans to take English, history, French and Latin at A-Level. When asked how she felt about her results she said: “I’m surprised.” Georgia is a learning prefect helping with reading groups and in the library.

Jake Kadir, achieved seven A* grades and two As. Jake, from Stansted Mountfitchet, plans to take maths, physics, chemistry and music technology at A-Level.

Eleanor Outwaite gained seven A* grades, five As and one B. Eleanor is planning to take Italian, Spanish, chemistry and history at A-Level.

Charlotte Dixon bagged five A* and seven As, Alex Beeston, achieved seven A*, four As and a B. Both Charlotte and Alex are charity prefects helping to organise fund-raising events. Alex said: “I didn’t expect this” and added that he was delighted.

Phoebe Snow, an anti-bullying prefect, gained five A*, six A grades and a B. She said: “I’m so happy.” Phoebe is planning to go on to take maths, chemistry, biology and geography at A-Level. Victoria Hill, gained eight As, one A* and a B. Both Phoebe and Charlotte are anti-bullying prefects.

Chloe Rolfe, an environment prefect, helping to keep the school in good order, gained one A*, six As and a B.

School principal, Gordon Farquhar said: “This year group has been an absolute pleasure to work with. They will be fantastic ambassadors for the academy and the community. They are a well-balanced group of young people and these are impressive results.

“I would also like to thank all staff members who have worked tirelessly with a passionate desire to see their pupils succeed.

For those students who have decided to choose a different path as they continue on their educational journey, I wish them the very best in their future adventures. For those who are continuing at Newport, I look forward to seeing you in September where new, exciting challenges begin again.”
