STUDENTS and staff at Saffron Walden County High School shared much excitement and great delight as the GCSE results were given out.

On the key measure of GCSE achievement, 80 per cent of students gained at least five A*- C grades including English and Maths. On the broader measure of performance a record 90 per cent of students received at least five higher grade passes.

John Hartley, County High’s headteacher said “We were quietly confident that this year group of students would achieve some outstanding results and so it has turned out.

“Their achievements will ensure that virtually all our students will be able to go on to their chosen post 16 path. Many aspects of these results stand out, but I was especially pleased to see the very strong performance of able boys in achieving their targeted A and A* grades.”
