SKATERS are being encouraged to join a new committee to help organise competitions and events at Saffron Walden's skatepark.

The Skate Group is hosting a meeting at the Golden Acre Community Centre on Ross Close at 11am on Saturday (June 13).

The skatepark, called One Minet Park, which is located next to the Lord Butler Leisure Centre on Peaslands Road, was opened in June 2007 and is one of the best in the country.

Secretary of the Skate Group, Jane Clarke, said: "All skaters, rollerbladers, BMXers and scooter riders are encouraged to come along to the meeting, as well as young people who use the skatepark as a place to socialise with their friends.

"The Skate Group would warmly welcome parents and carers of the young people who visit the skatepark as some adult input will be necessary. Come and get involved in a growing and exciting project."
