A CAR has rolled down Saffron Walden High Street all by itself.
At 2.10pm today (Friday June 18) a navy-blue Alpha Romeo parked opposite The Temeraire pub rolled 20 yards down the street before coming to a standstill in the middle of the road. It is thought that the handbrake may not have been applied properly.
As minor tailbacks started to build up police arrived at 2.25pm, five minutes later the lady owner showed up looking shocked.
One bystander said: “It was weird, the alarm went off and it starting moving by itself. It was like a ghost was driving. All the other drivers were confused and some even waited and waved to allow it to pull out.”
The driver received some friendly advice from police officers and drove off shortly after.
