A 17-year-old girl had a lucky escape after her car crashed just outside a secondary school this morning (Thursday).
The purple Ford Fiesta collided with a bollard near Saffron Walden County High School at about 10am.
The girl managed to crawl out of the upturned vehicle herself, according to a police officer at the scene, and was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge with minor injuries to her head and knee.
A section of Audley End Road was closed off between 10am and 10.30am, when passers-by assisted the attending police officer to direct traffic.
The police officer told the Reporter: “The community support has been brilliant.”
