LUCKY children at a Saffron Walden school are benefitting from a brand new music suite.

The new building at St Thomas More Primary School comprises of a large area for class lessons and is suitable for a whole class, choir or orchestra.

There is also a practice room where children will be able to have individual or group lessons.

This week parents, governors and friends of the school were invited to an evening of jazz to celebrate the opening.

“We are really excited about this new facility,” said headteacher Mary Jo Hall, adding that the school offers a wide range of music opportunities and tuition for every, including those children in the nursery.

“We have always been a very musical school and this new building will allow us to do so much more. We are very pleased to be able to up and running so soon but we still have a few bills to pay so the fund-raising will continue a bit longer.”

The new suite has been possible through the fundraising efforts of the parents and a generous donation from ‘The Yellow Car Trust’, a local charity which helps to promote the performance and enjoyment of classical music in the Saffron Walden area.
