The culmination of two years’ fundraising saw hundreds of children streaming out into the sunshine last Friday for the opening of the school’s new outdoor classroom.

Headteacher Henry Weir thanked Friends of Great Chesterford for their participation and fundraising efforts, which included the annual Easter bunny hunt, the creation and sales of 500 recipe books, pupil discos and adult social evenings. Olivia Prior and Jack Cameron from Cardinal Security, who enabled the printing of the recipe book for no charge to the school, and chair of the Friends group, Joe Higham, cut the ribbon in front of parents and friends of the school.

The outdoor classroom or barn will allow the children an opportunity to learn and study outdoors, as well as providing shelter for sports events and a hub for activities.
