A brave group of men are set to bare all for a charity calendar later this year.

Dubbed The Langley Calendar Boys, the 13-strong bunch are currently in the process of taking pictures for the project, which, once finished, will see proceeds go towards Prostate Cancer UK.

Claire Anderson, who is organising the calendar, said: “We were sat in The Bull pub having a giggle, and I can’t remember how it came up but it came about that in the boys’ loos there are cartoon pictures of women. So I said, ‘how come we don’t have anything like that in our loos?’

“The boys said they would sort something out and it ran from there. Next thing I know there is a whole list of names and they are putting a calendar together.”

Each picture will encapsulate something about each man, with one picture including a landlord and his pub barrels.

Jason Harvey is one of the men taking part.

“I play football for Saffron Walden, so my picture is of me and my gloves and a ball,” he said.

“I’m not easily embarrassed so I just got it over with quickly.”

The group hopes the calendar will be ready sometime next month, with about 500 copies printed, and features men from 35 to 67-years-old doing their bit for charity.

“We wanted to raise a bit of money and some awareness for something that blokes find hard to talk about,” Jason added.

Prostate Cancer UK aims to improve the care and welfare of those affected by the disease, increase investment in research, and raise public awareness of the condition.

In the last 20 years, the charity has invested more than £37 million into ground breaking research.

The group does not have a fundraising target from the calendar, but hopes to collect as much as they can.

As far as doing it again, Jason said he would be happy to do it again.

“If the demand is there then we will go for 2019.”

Once the calendar is finished, it will be available to buy from The Bull, in Langley Lower Green, The Fox and Hounds, in Clavering, Nisa, also in Clavering, and The Beauty Lounge in Ickleton.

It will also be stocked at Rickling Restored, in Clavering, Purity, in Saffron Walden, and the Vanilla Spa in Newport.
