Women and girls in Uttlesford are being invited to attend a Women Like Us festival, following the successful debut of the format last year.
The event is being held on Saturday, February 2, from 1-4pm at Lord Butler Fitness and Leisure Centre in Peaslands Road, Saffron Walden.
From Zumba and aqua aerobics, to yoga and legs, bums and tums, the free festival is a way to try out a range of sports and activities with the aim of encouraging girls and women to either try something new or take their first steps to becoming more active in a friendly atmosphere.
The festival in Uttlesford is one of a series taking place around the county inspired by the national This Girl Can campaign and is organised by Active Essex partner, Active Uttlesford.
They will showcase some of the activities and sports available in the community, including Zumba, yoga and netball. As well as this, there will be a chance to meet individuals from the Inclusion Club, who are committed to the inclusion of people with disability in all aspects of sport and active recreation.
Kelly Harman, Active Essex relationship manager for west Essex and thematic lead for inactivity, said: “Last year we had more than 900 women take part in our Women Like Us and This Girl Can festivals across the county, this year we are delighted to bring the festival to Uttlesford to showcase the various activities in the area and inspire more females to get active.”
Previous participants say that the festivals bring the community together and inspire females of all ages and ability to take part in physical activity and sport.
Participants are encouraged to partake in as many taster activities sessions as they like. Sessions will be on first come, first served basis, so people are encouraged to sign up as soon as possible.
