A HEALTH expert is amongst the crme de la crme of businesswomen in the region after making the finals of a prestigious competition.

Christine Charters-Young is in the running in the Start-Up category of the East of England Businesswomen Awards (EEBA) for her work at The Healing House for Health & Wellbeing.

She founded the business – a not for profit organisation that benefits local families by combining complementary health with relaxation techniques – 12 months ago and runs a treatment out of Saffron Walden Osteopathic Clinic.

To make it this far in the awards, Mrs Charters-Young has been rigorously scrutinised: she has attended an interview, given a short presentation and had judges inspect every aspect of her company including its sales and marketing activity, financial strength, human resource development and commitment to corporate social responsibility.

“There is a huge sense of achievement about being involved in the finals,” said Mrs Charters-Young, who will be attending the finals awards ceremony in Bury St Edmunds on May 26.

“To be recognised as an up-coming company in the region is fantastic. It says that I am doing a good job that is benefitting people.

“It has been a lot of hard work to push the company forward but incredibly worth it.”

Mrs Charters-Young specialises in working with children but helps improve the health of people of all ages including women during pregnancy, the chronically ill and those suffering from stress.

She helps individuals, local businesses and schools with one-on-one sessions, workshops and weekly classes.

She has also been inspired by one of the children she treated to found The SMILE Fund – an initiative to make sure that every child in need has full access to therapies that will help their recovery. The fund relies entirely upon donations, grants and fundraising.
