THERE were some sizzling moments at the Valentine week celebrations in Hinxton when lovers of community life got together in the recently up-dated village hall.
Over the last three years, villagers have been tirelessly supporting schemes to improve both the hall next to the recreation ground so Hinxton Village Hall Committee decided it was time to kiss fundraising goodbye... at least for a few hours and invite residents and friends to breakfast-not-in-bed treats.
A Valentine brunch with saucy bacon baps, bottomless coffee and tea pots and bubbly Bucks Fizz was served up by a team of volunteers to a background of love songs and a pile of newspapers and magazines with love inspired features to feed the atmosphere.
Chair of the village hall committee, Julia Lowndes, said: “The aim was not fundraising, just a good excuse to enjoy the lovely hall and show everyone what a great space is now available for all sorts of events from as little as £35 for non-residents and even cheaper for residents.”
