Conservative candidate Roger Hirst secured the most votes for Essex Police and Crime Commissioner in the first count in Uttlesford.
Mr Hirst secured 5,401 votes, ahead of second placed Bob Spink for UKIP. Third was independent candidate Martin Terry.
Liberal Democrats Kevin McNamara came fourth and Labour’s Chris finished bottom.
As there was not an outright winner in the first round of counting - the top candidate, Mr Hirst, did not secure 50 per cent of the vote – the second preferred choice of the bottom three will be counted.
