The Ickleton Lion opened under new ownership last month after a full refurbishment to the Abbey Street pub.

New landlords Tom and Michelle Merritt opened their doors to customers on Wednesday, February 22, after a four-week revamp, which included changes to the kitchen, toilets, and seating arrangements.

Michelle, 43, a hairdresser, said managing a pub had always been on the agenda for her and husband Tom, 36, a former electrician.

“We just always wanted to take on a pub, and this one became available and ticked all the right boxes.

“It’s probably a bit of a mid-life crisis,” joked Michelle.

“We have got plans for a beer festival and other events and hope that customers will like the new-look.”

The Lion will be serving traditional pub food as well as a make your own menu, where customers can choose items to build their own meal.

Stonebaked pizzas are also on the menu and takeaway options are available.
