A MOTHER and son with over 30 years experience in education between them are the new owners of a Clavering nursery.

Clare and Karl Lawrence will take on the respective roles of principal and bursar at the Montessori Nursery School.

Mrs Lawrence, who has previously run two successful nursery schools, believes that the nursery has a bright future.

"There are many exciting developments taking place at the nursery this summer, such as educational trips, graduation day for children progressing to primary school and a new outdoor area," she said.

"Other enhancements to the school include new computers, new toilets, books, toys, summer house and outdoor equipment.

"The nursery is also to benefit from newly-installed CCTV on the outside of the building and a new reading scheme to further enhance the children's literacy. Essex Early Years Service has agreed to help with the funding of these items, while Stansted BAA has made a donation to help with the development of the nursery school."

Mrs Lawrence replaces Heidi Moyer, who leaves the nursery after nine years as principal.

"Heidi has built the Montessori curriculum up to a very high standard. She has furnished the nursery with beautiful resources and left an excellent school," said Mrs Lawrence.

"The Montessori curriculum will continue and we are looking forward to working with the committed staff team to take the nursery to the next phase."
