A man who tried to get an air pistol and cannabis through security at Stansted Airport has been jailed.
Yuksel Demirtas, 39, of Granville Street, Peterborough, was stopped by security staff in the central search area of the airport on November 2 last year after a silver air pistol, along with a magazine containing seven pellets was found in his hand luggage.
He also had more than 110 pellets, a balaclava and a toiletries bag containing gas canisters in his bag.
Demirtas’s hold luggage was searched, which was found to contain 42g of cannabis.
On Friday, August 27, Demirtas was jailed for two years and three months having previously been found guilty on June 22 of possessing a dangerous article in an aerodrome and possession of cannabis following a trial.
