• The Cambridge Breast Cancer Research Unit at Addenbrooke’s Hospital opened in July 2008 and has now developed a national & international reputation for delivering both clinical and research excellence.
Individual patient care is delivered using evidence-based guidelines that are updated annually in light of new research and a 10-year survival in excess of 80 per cent puts this unit on a par with the best centres in Europe.
Following a £2 million fundraising effort, the Cambridge Breast Cancer Research Unit was opened in August 2008 to support the growing clinical research programme.
This unit now provides the clinical facilities to allow scientists and clinicians to produce high quality ‘translational research’, a concept that aims to bring scientific breakthroughs from the laboratory to the clinic as quickly as possible.
