A FUN day at the Jubilee Gardens in Saffron Walden raised a record-breaking £480 for the Teddies Toy Library in its 15th anniversary year last Tuesday.

The library, which was set up by a group of mothers who were inspired by a similar scheme in Cambridge, hires out children's toys, DVDs and videos to parents.

Treasurer Jenny Tobitt said: "The day went very well and it was probably our most successful fun day.

"Almost £500 is a large sum of money for a small organisation like us and it will allow us to replace some of our old stock and freshen up the library.

"Lots of families and children turned up and they all had great fun on the bouncy castle, the adventure toys and getting their faces painted.

"We also had plenty of cake and craft stalls and a tombola which all helped us reach our huge total."

The library is based at the New Life Church in Shire Hill and is open on the first and third Monday of every month during school term time between 10am and noon.

It will be open for business on September 4 and you can contact Jenny on 01799 521780 for more information.
