A dance show called Kaleidescope, on the theme of colours, at Saffron Hall by 350 Saffron Walden County High School students sold-out the venue for the second year running.

The event began with pupils in Years Nine and Ten dancing with a rainbow of scarves, balloons and coloured tops to give an energetic start to the show.

The dance styles included contemporary, hip hop and rock ‘n’ roll illustrated through songs and music with a link to colours.

Dance is taught at the school so the show included large class pieces as well as GCSE dance choreography work. There were also pieces choreographed by dance teachers from the district and outside professionals.

Teacher Kirsten Knowles said: “The youngsters had only one full day of rehearsal time to get the show practised to a performance level, and both I and fellow teacher Jacqueline Coleman from the PE and dance department are proud of the students’ achievements.”

Mrs Coleman added: “The show gave students at the school of all ages and all abilities a platform on which to perform upon in front of a large audience.”
