THE number of unemployed claimants in Saffron Walden constituency last month was 962.
The April figures represent a rate of 1.9 per cent of the economically active population aged 16 to 64, the 607th highest of the 650 UK constituencies (first being the highest rate of unemployment, 650 the lowest).
The number of claimants is 114 lower than in April 2012 and 38 lower than in March 2013. These data are not seasonally adjusted.
Saffron Walden MP Sir Alan Haselhurst said: “These figures are encouraging and are certainly a step in the right direction - it is crucial that the figure continues to drop steadily.”
