AN ARTIST from Newport is exhibiting paintings in Saffron Walden Library's gallery for the next four weeks.

A collection of Nick Hall's paintings from 2007 are up for viewing in the library until

February 10, during the library's normal opening hours.

Nick's work is the result of time spent with the Bottisham Life Art Group and studying picturesque areas of the Essex countryside.

Mr Hall said: "I have tried to free up my painting style this year. Using broader, more relaxed brushstrokes and having a set time to study a particular pose has helped in this.

"These works are the next step in my development as a figurative painter."

Cllr Iris Pummell, a spokesman for Essex County Council, said Nick's exhibition was the latest in a series of exhibitions at the town library that were showing themselves to be very popular.

"The new gallery space in the library is proving very successful," she said. "The latest exhibition showcases another local talent and should not be missed.
