PREPARATIONS are well under way for this year's fun Semar Players' production, which is a take on the classic children's tale of Pinocchio.

The 35-strong team involved in the play have been working hard since October to ensure that everything comes together smoothly and are looking forward to performing next week.

Director Andy Long said: "Everyone's doing very well. We're all a bit nervous, but things are definitely under control.

"We're raising money for the Katherine Semar Junior School in Saffron Walden, which is where Pinocchio is being performed. Each year we aim for £2000. We intend to spend the money we raise on theatre lights for the hall.

"Production costs are kept down; we even make our own costumes. It's a great way to raise money for the school and it's great fun too."

Pinocchio is being performed at 7pm on Friday January 25, and 3pm and 7pm the following day. For £4 tickets, call the school on 01799 521120 or Mr Long on 01799 524443.
