DAIRY ice cream producer, The Saffron Ice Cream Company, has unveiled its latest flavour in time for the Jubilee and Olympic celebrations.

The limited edition ice cream ‘Farmer Kit’s Gooseberry’ - which comes with the tag line ‘don’t be a gooseberry... join the celebrations’ - has gone on sale this week in time for the Jubilee on Monday.

Company owner Dominic Parry said: “Red dessert gooseberries have been sourced locally from Farmer Kit Barker and his organic fruit farm in Little Walden and mixed with the freshly made ice cream to create a very special flavour.

“We wanted to create a celebratory flavour for the summer as it’s not every year such big festivities occur. We are delighted to team up with micro producer Kit for his gooseberries and welcome everyone to taste this very local limited edition flavour.”

The celebratory ice cream, now in food shops and restaurants, will also be available at Saturday’s market stall and also at the extravaganza on the Common on Monday (June 4).
