MORE than 100 students from the ‘class of 2011’ returned to Linton Village College on Thursdayr to receive their GCSE certificates and Linton Honours awards.

There was an atmosphere of celebration at the annual presentation evening as this year group had achieved the second best results in LVC’s history, with almost 90 per cent of students gaining five A* to C passes and a record number of A and A* grades.

Prizes were given to the best students in each subject and the Principal’s Award for Excellence went to Laura Arnold for her conscientious approach to her studies and her outstanding GCSE results.

The prizes were given out by Mike Younger, director of the Centre for Commonwealth Education at Cambridge University, who told the students that their generation could embrace change and ‘inherit the future’.

Musical entertainment was provided by members of the class of 2011. James Baker and Adam Kelly played ‘Hit the Road Jack’ by Percy Mayfield, with James on piano and Adam on saxophone, while Charlotte Baribeau sang her own composition ‘Also to You’ accompanied by Christopher Charlesworth on piano.
