Students at Linton Village College entertained over 140 senior citizens at their biggest ever coffee and carols party on Wednesday, December 9.
The guests were collected by coach from villages, including Linton, Hildersham, Balsham, Castle Camps and Great Abington.
They were served tea, coffee, fruit cake and mince pies on arrival by year 9 students who helped to organise the party.
The wind orchestra played seasonal tunes and the visitors also received a small Christmas present to take home.
The students funded the event through activities including a staff football match and cross-country run, a sponsored silence, a nail bar and washing staff cars.
Students were also allowed to wear their trainers to school in exchange for a 50p donation towards the party.
All extra funds including the proceeds from a raffle on the day, will be given to Save the Children’s Syria refugees appeal.
Organiser, Jenny Pullin said: “The Christmas party is Linton Village College tradition which goes back more than 20 years. I am very pleased with the enthusiasm that the students put in to this event and the senior citizens said they really enjoyed it.”
