STUDENTS at Linton Village College (LVC) have launched a new cookery club with the support of Let’s Get Cooking, a government-funded initiative backed by the Big Lottery Fund.
The new club, initially for year nine students, meets once a month after school to try out new recipes, followed by a sit-down tasting session where students share the dishes they have created.
At the first session students prepared chicken biryani followed by poached pears in orange juice.
Food technology teacher Rebecca Landshoff said: “The aim of Let’s Get Cooking is to promote cookery skills and help students to take recipes home to increase the amount of home cooking that takes place.
“After the first session, the students all wanted to take the recipe home to try it out with their families.”
