Talented Saffron Walden jewellers have used their expertise to re-gild the hands and numerals as part of restoration works on a village church.
Craftsmen from A James (Jewellers) Ltd and Whitehead and Day, both in Church Street, turned their expert hands to the clock at Holy Trinity Church in Littlebury, including carrying out an overhaul of the clock mechanism.
The weather vane was re-gilded by Colin Hall of Cherry Hinton, Cambridgeshire.
Funds for the work, which came in at £5,000, were provided mainly by grants from Uttlesford District Council, Littlebury Parish Council, Stansted Airport Community Trust and The Mercers’ Company.
