Tonight the Essex Police and Crime Commissioner Roger Hirst will be meeting with Uttlesford residents.

The event, taking place at Saffron Walden Town Hall, is part of the commissioner’s regular tour of districts within the county.

Tonight’s meeting, which runs from 6.30pm to 8.30pm, had originally been scheduled for December.

Also taking questions at the event will be Chief Inspector Craig Carrington, Essex Police district commander for Uttlesford.

Topics expected to be brought up by residents at the meeting will include the closure and sale of police stations in Saffron Walden and Stansted Mountfitchet, and the opening of a new police base at the Uttlesford District Council offices in Saffron Walden.

Questions may also be asked about the police and crime commissioner’s recently published budget plans, which includes a 3.25 per cent rise in council tax – equivalent to around £5 for a band D home.

For live updates from the meeting follow our coverage from 6.15pm.
