LONG time Haverhill resident and music aficionado Rob Proctor will be manning the sound desk at the Haverhill Arts Centre on November 7 when Cambridge-based when The Floyd Effect - one of the UK's finest Pink Floyd tribute bands - take to the stage

Rob has lived in Haverhill for over 30 years and for the last year has been ensuring that at each show The Floyd Effect's sound is as authentic as possible. This is by all accounts no mean feat as many of the devotees of Pink Floyd's music are extremely knowledgeable about the music their heroes produced throughout their long career.

"I've always been a great fan of the Pink Floyd since the early days of Syd Barrett", he said. "To be working on a Pink Floyd Tribute show is a huge challenge but great fun. Every venue has its own acoustic foibles but regardless the band relies on me to deliver a great sound out front."

Floyd Effect bass-player, Garry Tyrrell, said: "The Floyd Effect is a sound and light experience of breathtakingly accurate reproductions of songs from a selection of Pink Floyd's most popular albums.

"Sound quality is a huge responsibility and one to which Robhas risen to fantastically well over the last 12 months, He's been invaluable."

Over the last 12 months Rob has engineered the front of house sound for the band in venues of all shapes and sizes across the Midlands and south of England, most recently to a full house at the Norwich Playhouse. Strangely, Haverhill will be only the second appearance on his home patch.

No stranger to knob twiddling Rob has long been involved with both local and amateur radio. For a number of years he worked with BBC radio and remains a licensed radio amateur often spending the small wee hours chatting to other radio enthusiasts around the world.

Prior to joining up with the Floyd Effect Rob ran the sound desk for the extremely successful Haverhill swing band 42nd Street. When not on duty with the Floyd Effect, Rob runs his own IT consulting business.
