OLYMPIC medallist Chloe Rogers will open the Hatfield Broad Oak 10k road race, it was announced this week.

The Team GB star, who picked up a bronze with the women’s hockey team at London 2012, will get the race started at 11am on Monday (May 27).

This year’s race promises to be the best ever, say organisers, with a sell out field and runners clamouring to get on to the waiting list.

Race chairman Vanessa Ambler said: “We are chuffed to bits that Chloe has offered her support to start the race.

“So much hard work goes into organising an event of this size and its amazing to receive the support from a local sports hero – I’m sure she will provide inspiration to all of our younger runners and those taking part in the one-mile fun run.”
