One additional EasyJet aircraft will be operating from the base in a move to attract customers after Ryanair announced they would cease to operate there from December 2 due to a dispute over rising airport costs.
The brand new EasyJet Airbus 319 aircraft will operate from June 25 next year and will carry an additional 250,000 passengers a year.
The investment creates 35 jobs for pilots and cabin crew at EasyJet and provides some 250 jobs in the region.
