Firefighters were called after a HGV collided with a bridge and shed its load in Newport.
The collision, involving a lorry which was carrying two tractors – one of which fell off the trailer – happened shortly after 2pm today (Wednesday) on the B1383.
Three crews, from Newport, Saffron Walden and Harlow, were called to the scene.
Police closed a section of Cambridge Road, near the railway bridge, causing long delays for motorists.
Parents have also had difficulty picking their children up from Newport Free Grammar School as the road remains closed.
