An attempted armed robbery took place at the Post Office in Thaxted earlier today (Wednesday).
A hooded man, carrying a knife, entered the shop, on the High Street, just before 1pm. He demanded money but ran off empty handed.
A police helicopter was scrambled. The assailant is still at large, according to police.
Police are investigating and ask that anybody with information should contact Braintree CID on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
