Man charged in connection with ‘attack’ on Braintree mosque

POLICE have charged a 43-year-old man with two counts of possession of offensive weapons and affray over an attack on an Islamic centre.
Geoffrey Ryan, from Brick Kiln Way, Braintree, was arrested in possession of a knife outside the prayer centre in Silks Way, Braintree, at 7.15pm on Wednesday (May 22). A smoke device was thrown into the premises. No one was injured.
He has been remanded in police custody to appear before Colchester Magistrates’ Court today (Friday).
