Man dies after suffering heart attack in Newport

A man has died after suffering a heart attack in Newport yesterday afternoon (Sunday, December 4).

The East of England Ambulance Service were called at 3.10pm to an address in the High Street to reports of a man unconscious.

An East Anglian Air Ambulance attended the scene along with a community first responder, two rapid response vehicles and an ambulance crew.

Paramedics were unable to save the man, in his 60s, who had suffered a cardiac arrest and died at the scene.

A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 3.10pm on Sunday to reports of a man, in his 60s, who was unconscious.

“When crews arrived, they found the man was not breathing and in cardiac arrest.

“Despite the best efforts of paramedics, the man sadly died at the scene. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this time.”
