A man died after being hit by a train earlier today (Thursday).
British Transport Police (BTP) were called to the scene, in Wormley, Hertfordshire, shortly after 1pm.
Passengers travelling to and from Stansted Airport, or between Cambridge and London Liverpool Street on the West Anglia main line, experienced delays after rail operator Greater Anglia suspended its services.
Trains were expected to return to normal from about 4.30pm today.
A BTP spokesman said: “Officers were called to the line near Wharf Road crossing in Wormley on Thursday, 26 June following reports of a man having been hit by a train.
“BTP received the report at 1.10pm and officers attended alongside colleagues from Hertfordshire Constabulary.
“Medics from the East of England Ambulance Service also attended, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The incident is being treated as non-suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.
“Officers will now work to establish the man’s identity and inform his family.”
