May Day celebrations were held at Katherine Semar Infants School in Saffron Walden.
The event consisted of a parade of the May Queen and her attendants. Then the May Queen, six-year-old Lauren Bayford, was crowned by the Green Man Ben O’Brien, seven.
This was followed by dancing to entertain the May Queen, country dancing by the Reception and Year 1 classes, and then some fabulous maypole dancing from the Year 2 classes.
Headteacher Julie Puxley said: “We are delighted the poor weather did not dampen everyone’s spirits and we are so proud of the children. They did a fantastic job.”
